COTTINGLEY TOWN HALL CHURCH
AND COMMUNITY CENTRE

RESTORATION UPDATE

Congratulations and thank you to everyone for your support. The target for Phase 1 (£38,000) has been reached and exceeded.

The works subject to the Lottery Grant are now complete with only the snagging defects to be sorted before the final payment to the builder on July 20th. The Institute floor has been resealed and is looking very good. Quotes are being sought for the outside paintwork and for repair or renewal of windows and renewing plaster in internal staircase. We now need prices for painting and plasterwork in the vestry and library.

Application was made to the Community Chest for help with funding for new tables and chairs in the Institute. A grant was given and these items have now been purchased.

Phase 2

Our next big drive is towards raising the amount needed to replace the boiler and central heating system. This will cost approx. £16,000.

This needs to be the next priority in order to make the rooms fit for use in the winter months.

Despite all the major work carried out the inside of the building does not look much different and full internal decoration is needed.

There are also small DIY jobs
* putting curtain rails up
* Making curtains
* Tackling the garden
* Painting the smaller rooms

Are there any enthusiastic volunteers out there?

Current Finances

Amount of Lottery Money left at present £7000. Amount left in our Fund £5173 of which £3568 was due to the builder at end of July for the 2½% retention. This left only £1600 to pay for any work until we can claim it back from the Heritage Lottery. Eventually we should have about £4000 left at the end of this 1st Phase and we can also claim 12½% of the VAT paid by Cottingley Town Hall under the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme-over £2000.
