Project


Aims of Project
The full restoration of the building and its preservation for future generations.
Improvement of the facilities available in the community rooms to generate wider use by the
community - disabled facilities; decoration; health and safety; storage; special requirements of
user groups to be taken into account.

Priorities

Phase 1 - Essential high level works to secure the fabric to a standard approved by English
Heritage
Strip original roofs, renew lead and underlay and treat any timber affected by rot.
Renewal and replacement of guttering, fall pipes to match original.
Reconstruction of below ground drainage and removal of obsolete underground tank.
Repair to masonry and repointing including rebuilding of 2nd chimneystack to match
remaining original.
Improvement of access to bell tower.
Repair and renewal of high level window frames to working condition.
The above works are within the priority works covered by 90% funding from Heritage Lottery Fund. A condition of the grant is the renewal of electrical installation and ventilation to the boiler house.WORK ON THIS PHASE NOW COMPLETE

Phase 2 - Continuation of building renovation and improvement to community rooms.
Upgrade heating system with consideration of independent heating in community rooms.
Renewal of plasterwork and redecoration.
Replacement of further windows as required.
Installation of disabled facilities and access.
Installation of security cameras.
The detailed specifications have not yet been costed.

Church Services with 30 to 40 regular attendees together with regular use for weddings, christenings, funerals.
Drop In Centre (Community rooms) - (20 to 30 attending)
Cubs and Beavers meet each week (40 to 50 attending)
Women's Guild Meeting (15 to 20 attending)
Other Events
Private parties - kitchen facilities and community rooms.
Annual Open Day as part of Heritage Day celebrations -whole of building.
Musical events in Church and/or Community Rooms
Coffee mornings
Table top and seasonal fund raising markets
Future Planned Events
Youth community meetings.
Homework Clubs
Practice venue for performing arts.
Exhibitions of local arts and crafts.
